Police Department / Police Officer

The City of Dunn has an opening for a Police Officer. Duties include: Community policing, investigation, and patrol duties. Candidate must be 20 years of age or older, a US Citizen, and possess a valid NC Driver License; must have good moral character, no felony or Class B misdemeanor convictions. Education: Completion of a 2 year degree in Criminal Justice or graduation from high school or equivalent, supplemented by basic courses in police science; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid North Carolina Law Enforcement Certificate.

Dunn was originally called "Lucknow" and was renamed in 1873

The city of Dunn was incorporated on February 12, 1887, at which time it was a logging town and a turpentine distilling center. The name honors Bennett Dunn, who supervised the construction of the railway line between Wilson and Fayetteville.
