The City of Dunn is seeking an experienced, team-oriented, community-focused, highly skilled professional leader for the position of Finance Director. An individual in this position will perform managerial, administrative and fiscal control work for the city finance operations w/annual general fund operating budget of $13.2M and water fund operating budget of $7.9M. Work involves planning, coordinating & directing all aspects of city financial management & administration, which includes receipt, disbursement and accounting of city revenues & expenditures, purchasing, borrowing and bond issuance, managing the investment of city funds & assisting City Manager in preparing annual budgets. Supervises payroll, accounts payable/receivable and water utilities billing. Independent judgment & initiative required to ensure compliance with local ordinances, NC General Statutes (159 & 160) & federal laws regarding governmental financial operations.

  • Minimum Requirements
    Minimum requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, public or business administration & 4 yrs. of managerial accounting experience preferably in a public financial setting.

Dunn was originally called "Lucknow" and was renamed in 1873

The city of Dunn was incorporated on February 12, 1887, at which time it was a logging town and a turpentine distilling center. The name honors Bennett Dunn, who supervised the construction of the railway line between Wilson and Fayetteville.
