Administration / Administrative Support Specialist II

The City of Dunn is currently accepting applications for the position of Administrative Support Specialist II for the City Manager’s Office. The position requires a professional individual with excellent communication skills; both oral and written; appropriate punctuation, spelling and grammar, exceptional typing speed with accuracy and attention to detail; ability to transcribe dictation. This position serves as primary office and administrative support for the City Clerk and City Manager; acts as receptionist for the Administration Department. Candidate must be proficient in the use of Microsoft products and other relevant software. Assists with preparation of Board agendas; receives and compiles agenda materials; some evening work required. Coordinates agenda preparations and keeps minutes for DCDC-Dunn Community Development Corporation; completed other tasks assigned for DCDC. Manages Harnett Training School's bank account; handles payables and receiveables. Creates quarterly invoices for the entities that are linked to DCDC or Dunn Enrichment Center. Proficiency at multitasking including answering and directing phone requests, faxing, e-mail and walk-in requests. Performs other related duties as required.

  • Minimum Requirements
    Requires five years directly related experience or two years of college or Associates Degree. Certified North Carolina Notary Public, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.

Dunn was originally called "Lucknow" and was renamed in 1873

The city of Dunn was incorporated on February 12, 1887, at which time it was a logging town and a turpentine distilling center. The name honors Bennett Dunn, who supervised the construction of the railway line between Wilson and Fayetteville.
